Mechanics is a basic discipline with strong applications. On one side, it closely focuses on the nonlinear, cross-scale and other frontier issues involved in material science. On the other side, it involves major issues on engineering problems involved in health, safety, energy and environment faced by human beings.
Mechanics is a key discipline of HIT with top ranking in China. In the period of14th Five-Year-Plan, the discipline gained a total fund of more than 50 million yuan.
In Shenzhen Campus, the discipline of Mechanics has formed a direction of solid mechanics considering multiscale and multifield coupling issues, which now has a strong academic influence at home and abroad through the outstanding achievements in research achievements, talents training, and international communications.
In the Discipline of Mechanics, now the academic staffs are carry out the applied basic research and top-notch talents training by focusing on the engineering fields Energy, Aerospace, Electronic Information, Biological, Medical engineering, which are significantly required by the state and local governments. For example, the scopes covers the high-efficient hydrogen fuel cell technology, accurate nuclear component integrity assessment, space with vibration control technology, reliability analysis of flexible electronics, mechanical bio-engineering technology, etc.
